“Bill Millios has made it his passion to create films that are true to his heart and tell their stories his way, embarking on a grassroots approach not only during production, but through the marketing and distribution of his films, as well.”
Matthew Newton

Back Lot Films is currently in development on The 14th President, a feature-length film written by Bill Millios and Matthew E. Thomas. The screenplay is based on the tragic life of United States President Franklin Pierce. In the shadow of the American presidency, Franklin Pierce's rise to power and tragic downfall reveal the untold story of a man haunted by personal loss and political turmoil, striving to leave a legacy in a nation on the brink of civil war.

The company’s two feature-length films, Old Man Dogs (1997) and Dangerous Crosswinds (2005), were well-received in Variety, The Boston Globe and America Online and screened at theaters throughout New England. Back Lot's short film, Bottled Words (1995), won the "First & Finest" award at the 1995 New Hampshire Film & Video Awards.

Old Man Dogs

"Old Man Dogs is full of moody subtleties which may make the big-budget commercial-film connoisseur uneasy. Audiences will walk away saying that they never have seen anything like this produced on Granite State soil."

Boston Globe

"Old Man Dogs is a heartfelt showcase of raw talent with something to say - makes masterful use of the New Hampshire outdoor locations. Director Bill Millios deftly handles emotional scenes. As a calling card for the New Hampshire film community, Old Man Dogs does the job."

Variety

“Old Man Dogs is a treat it is to stumble upon - something completely different - the plot is used as a base for the film to ruminate on life, love, fate, and the need to mourn. Not an easy sell when it comes to independent filmmaking."

America Online

"Old Man Dogs is a warmly rendered story of loss and letting go - it's a beautifully shot first effort. This independent feature is an impressive accomplishment as Millios’ debut (he wrote, directed, produced, and edited the film)."

NewEnglandFilm.com

"Julia Radochia's expressions fill up the screen in a way that suggest star quality. Bill McNally is particularly effective - a mix of shock and joy. Don LaBranche delivers a perfectly muted and nicely understated interpretation of a sad old man who has lost touch with the modern world. Michael Huggins' guitar work captures every mood of the unfolding ghostly drama."

Nashua Telegraph

"Director Bill Millios has created a truth that is stranger than fiction. Old Man Dogs has none of the clichés - guns, chase scenes or generational angst. It deals with big questions - life after death, the spirit world and how people treat one another."

Dangerous Crosswinds

"Film Noir and New Hampshire isn't a combination that normally springs to mind but Dangerous Crosswinds may change that."
Boston Globe

"Four Stars! Plenty of interesting questions are raised about controversial issues, and the fact that the film has the guts to ask them goes a long way in my book. More good news arrives on the DVD front: it's a solid effort all around, boasting a good technical presentation and a surprisingly solid amount of bonus features."
DVD Talk

"Dangerous Crosswinds is provocative. It explores the light and dark sides of human nature and comes to some unexpected conclusions."

New Hampshire Magazine

"Dangerous Crosswinds is independent filmmaking in its purest form, with a plot sure to invoke debate about assisted suicide, and thoughts about relationships and their boundaries."

Portsmouth Herald

"Dangerous Crosswinds is so well written, acted and shot that it left me wondering how such a production could have been made on such a small budget."

WGIR-AM

"Dangerous Crosswinds is honest and brave filmmaking - Bill Millios is a master of independent films that are honest and intellectual."
